O Vingança apareceu em 2004 em Fortaleza - CE, e tocava um thrashcore muito influenciado pelo hardcore rápido dos anos 80. Influências vindas do Lärm, o trio inglês Heresy, Ripcord e Intense Degree e também pelo crossover ao estilo Cryptic Slaughter. Isto fica bastante claro ao se ouvir o excelente EP "A Hora do Herói Cair" de 2006, lançado pela RAW Records. A banda chegou ao fim em 2007, mesmo assim fez algumas aparições após isso.

7" Descarados – El Canto De Los Humildes

Descarados is a band from California/Chicago, Il who formed in 2002.  Descarados features members of Sin Orden, Tragatelo, and Mugre.
This mixture of sounds offer listeners a refreshing take on modern screamo/punk.  I really wish more bands played this throwback style of music.  Overall, Descarados offer up a killer EP with El Canto De Los Humildes.  Descarados is an absolute must listen for fans of The Shining, Rites Of Spring, and Ulisses Lima.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy.

OSCURO LUGAR - Alguien Muere

Still feeling gloomy and doomy here - maybe it's the cold weather, among other things...so I'm darkening things up a bit with a 7" from OSCURO LUGAR, from Colombia. Released by the wonderful DARBOUKA RECORDS  this is quite a departure from anything I've heard out of Medellin. "Alguien Muere" is a relatively lo-fi track driven by a steady light drum machine, clean flanged guitar draped over the background, a harsher distorted one jabbing toward the front, and classic reverbed gothy vocals not unlike Ian Curtis or Peter Murphy, but in Español. "Paso Doble" is a creepy instrumental with a marching snare beat, a punchy synth, and textured guitar lines. "Los Males Revelan" kicks it up to hi-fi range with the drum machine, and is more synth/vocal driven. I can't find any info on this band - I don't even have a clue when this was recorded. It sounds like it could be old, but judging by the releasing patterns of the label, it's probably not. If early CURE and SISTERS OF MERCY get you moving, download this for sure.

CODE 13-A PART OF AMERICA DIED TODAY.

After several tours across America Code 13 suffered its first major line-up change when drummer Criminal Shane was arrested and incarcerated in Wisconsin. Josh from the band Inveigh was recruited to fill in and would end up staying with the band for a year, two tours and a 7". Fast powerful hardcore, period. Over the years Code 13 became part of a burgeoning scene in Minneapolis, along with bands like Civil Disobecience, State of Fear, Misery, Murderers and Assrash. To show our appreciation to the kids who supported us we did 100 copies on clear vinyl with a screenprinted camouflage cover for our record release show. Of the three 7"s most people consider this to be Code 13's strongest material. The grind/crust influence had faded somewhat by this point and the approach more of a fast hardcore style. Some reviewers had a hard time with the mix of styles, that Code 13 couldn't easily be nailed down as crust, thrash, or street punk. But it was our goal from the start to mix up styles and still have drive an energy.

7" - CODE 13 - DOOMED SOCIETY

After Destroy broke up I hooked up with Tattoo Shane and Trevor Trend and began jamming with a series of Drummers. We put up an ad at Extreme Noise and attracted Criminal Shane on Drums. Code 13 was an attempt on my part to move past the grind and metal influence on Destroy back to a more old school hardcore sound. Still, Code 13 is not a retro-80's band by any respect, although the 80's influence is there, many of our songs clock in at speeds undreamed of in '82. Code 13's music is hard for me to describe because we mix several different styles.
